Straight Talk by TracPhone
November 17, 2009admin 1 Comment »Wow. I have never had a more miserable experience than what I am currently having with Straight Talk. For those of you who don’t know, straight talk is the wireless service that Walmart is now providing at their stores. In fact Walmart boasts a $45 dollar plan that would include unlimited minutes, text, and web browsing all on the Verizon network(which I had Verizon anyway, so I thought WOW awesome) What makes the deal even sweeter, is the fact that you can port over your number from an existing provider. Most likely it will be done in a few hours, but can take up to 7 days…..DANGER WILL ROBINSON DANGER!!!!!!…..
Well I realized after 2 or 3 days, that I couldn’t wait any longer to have my phone service working. I told them to cancel the port, and I would just get a new number. Easy right? YEAH….No. They said but sir, we can’t stop the process now, because it’s already 90% done, just give us 24 more hours, and you will be using your phone. I said, “Sure, ok.” Regrettfully, I ended up saying this 5 times over 5 days, each rep, then supervisor, then store manager, saying the same thing, 24 hours, 24 hours…..Almost done just wait one day.
Here’s the kicker though, when I activated through the online process, I paid a month in advance to use the service, so now I have shelled out the $45 plus tax aka $50, and can’t even use the thing. My service with Verizon has run out, and so I am just a sitting duck, who can’t quack, but still has a bill. (OK OK, I am done….)
I thought about writing the company in Miami, FL, but a friend of mine figured that after a week for the letter to get down there, they would eventually read my letter, then mail me back, and I bet you the letter would say, “Sir, we understand perfectly. Just wait 24 hours to get your service.”
But seriously this is just crazy. If anyone else has had some trouble and found a solution leave a comment. Thanks!
